Being Summer prepared,

A bit of rain now, a bit of driving later. Minnesota weather does not disappoint in the avenue of keeping us "on our toes". While almost everyone has an idea of what they need to get done before the cold winter months, by the time we get to June, a lot of us just want to relax. We don't want to think about all that we have to do. We here at Minnesota Automotive, however, want to highlight that being prepared might make relaxing that much better.

Checking that your cooling system is properly functioning and maintained may stand as one of the brighter highlights to consider in the summer months. The outside heat can increase the workload of the vehicle's engine, which in turn raises its operating temperature. Without the cooling system functioning at 100%, the engine could begin to overheat, causing a bigger list of repairs than just the cooling system. So we recommend keeping up to date on your cooling system's maintenance as well as always having an eye on the coolant level in your reservoir.

Comfortability, is a large part of anyone's life. Besides that engine overheating, we ourselves do not enjoy being over hot. The interior of a vehicle can reach crazy-high temperatures. For this instance, many states across the country have laws about leaving animals, children, or at-risk individuals in a vehicle. It can also be hard to even cool off if your A/C system isn't working right. With multiple components from fans to "Freon". That being said, you can always get an A/C EVAC & Recharge at your local auto shop, to help identify any possible issues and/or leaks.

Now there is no "one" specific thing to always think about before any big trips, but there are a few to check off, to avoid any future issues. Always remember that the heat can affect multiple parts of the vehicle, and can cause issues that were not evident at colder temperatures.

Whether you are using your vehicle for the normal day to day, or getting it ready to go on a big trip, a good general inspection is always recommended. You can always get a good look around your vehicle with an Oil Change at Minnesota Automotive, or a qualified and trusted auto repair shop near you! Additionally, if you want a more overall look at future recommendations for your vehicle, most auto shops will typically have some type of "32 point Safety/Pre-Purchase" Inspection.
